I didn't know than the past presidents of the United States there were twenty-two lawyers, four soldiers, four farmers, four teachers , two writers, two businessmen, one engineer, one tailor, and one actor. Also, eight of them did not have a college education!
Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Nobel Peace 1982
I'm going to research about Gabriel Garcia Marquez or "GABO". He is important Nobel Peace in literature 1982. He was born in 1928 in a small town in Colombia. He grew up with his maternal grandparent. His grandfather was a pensioned colonel from the civil war at the beginning of the century. He went to a Jesuit college and began to read law, but his studies were soon broken off for his work as a journalist. In 1954 he was sent to Rome on an assignment for his newspaper, and since then he has mostly lived abroad in Paris, New York, Barcelona and Mexico in a more or less compulsory exile. Besides his large output of fiction he has written screenplays and has continued to work as a journalist. He was a Journalist in different newspapers. Actually, he lives in Mexico city.
He has several books: the most important books are: Cien anos de Soledad (One Hundred Years of Solitude), El Coronel no tiene quien le escriba (No One Writes to the Colonel), Cronica de una muerte anunciada (Chronicle of a Death Foretold), la hojarasca (Leaf Storm, and Other Stories), el amor en los tiempos del colera ( Love in the Time of Cholera) and el General en su Laberinto (The General in his Labyrinth).
I read this books when I was in the school. Every student in my country (Colombia) need to read each book because is a requirement in all schools. I think his books are interesting to read and ease to understand.
In my opinion "Gabo" is admired, because he is the first Nobel Peace of my country. Also, he has has his own style of literature providing new things to the world literature. People love him, because he is very charismatic and sometimes is sarcastic and controversial.
